That is the question!
I know you are wondering where I am going with this, bear with me and I will tell you. Who do you want to be or not be? What do you want your legacy to look like? One day when we are dead our time on this earth to make a difference will be over, all we will have left is what we did and how we are remembered. Does it matter to you what people will remember about you when you are gone? It matters to me.
I did not always have this mentality, I used to think “What I do not know cannot hurt me.” While that is certainly true, it does have the power to continue to hurt those you have loved and left behind. We all make mistakes. Some mistakes are bigger and more impactful than others. I have made a few biggies; and while I cannot erase them or the impact they had on others, I can live my life in such a way that those mistakes grow very dim in the light of his (Jesus) reflection in my life.
It is because of some of those mistakes that I am very vigilant in my walk with the Lord. I do not do life with blinders on. I try very hard to be aware of my thoughts, my words, and my actions. I know that what I do, what I say. I can leave a lasting bad taste with those around me. If my gaze is on Jesus and my desire is to walk closely with him seeking his approval, then my words and behavior should be in line with his desire for me and that alone should make me look different, talk different and be different than I used to be.
We are to be Salt and Light to those around us. Salt gives good seasoning to yummy dishes, and we should be a good seasoning in the life of those around us. Light brightens, lightens, radiates warmth. Do we want to be the one who is always down, always seeing the ugly in life? If we are full of Jesus then our continuance should reflect his. He radiates light, life, joy, and love.
Have you ever experienced the Debbie downers if this world? I have and they suck all the life and fun out of the room! Yes, there are times when we get down, but should it be a way of life? No!! Absolutely no! I have said it before and it bears repeating;” if you cannot find anything to be joyful about, start here, “he saved your dirty rotten soul!” That alone should bring a smile to your face and heart. Matt. 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
So what will you do with this question: “To Be Or Not To Be?” I choose being conformed to His image, not that of the worlds or some grumpy faced Christian with no light in their eyes.
Think about it!
