Habakkuk 3:17-19

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.

How often do you get a word from the book of Habakkuk? Well, this morning as I was reading God spoke to me about this passage, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you.

As we read through scripture the images that are brought to mind seem somehow foreign to us. After all, most people today are not in the fields or raising sheep, although, in some countries they are, the writers always use terminology and picture images to suit the times.
So, I am going to rewrite this verse as though it were for today and see if it applies, I am confident that it will.

“Thought the fire tornado and earthquake destroy, and the Covid-19 pandemic shuts down businesses and causes people to lose their jobs, and causes schools to close and parents to scramble to do homeschool and figure it all out, and there are rioting and race issues, and I have to social distance or shelter in place; and although people are very sick and dying horrible deaths because of this illness going around, and people everywhere are made to wear masks that are uncomfortable, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.”

The world is in distress, no matter who or what you listen to it is all bad news, (I choose not to listen:) )but if you are a born again believer you need to let faith rise up and take hold of you, fear is not from God! We need to have faith that God can and will give us the strength and grace to make it through, and He can also give us joy in the process. We need to take our eyes off of the difficulties and keep our ears away from the reports from the so-called experts. We need to buckle down and pray and read God’s word! God can give you confidence in the midst of difficulties and sorrows. God can strengthen you in your inner man all while the world is in chaos around you. He can make you tread and run over difficult circumstances when you abide in the confidence of God.

God is working out His plan, he did not say we would not go through hard times, but He did say we were not alone, that He is always with us. God will bring about His perfect justice in His time. One day our world will be rid of evil, but until then we need to Praise the Lord, we need to Lift His Name On High, we need to READ and Pray our way through this life, and live the best we can for Him until He returns for His Bride! (believers)

God will never cause you to live in fear and cower in the corner. The Holy Spirit is able to lift us up, reveal to us truth, and instill confidence in us even if the world is falling apart. Right now it looks like evil is winning, it seems that God has forgotten us, but I say, not so! God is working out the things that need to be worked out and bringing about His perfect will and plan; be patient, wait with an expectant heart. Stay grounded in His word and let those Holy Inspired scriptures soothe your soul, calm your mind, and bring you joy instead of fear!

God is near, live as though today was your last day on earth, one day it will be! Are you ready? I hope so! You can be saved in an instant. Ask Jesus into your heart, repent of your sins and ask Him to fill you with His spirit, to take the old man/woman away and in its place leave a blessed child of God. You do not have to fix anything first, stop anything first, because you can come as you are, where you are, and He will do the work for you when you come in the sincerity of heart.
Wouldn’t you love to know that your eternity will be with the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, the Creator of all things? No more tears, no more pain, no more anything bad…just peace and love!
